While looking through Pinterest I discovered the work of Jake Hicks. He uses gels to break away from the normal white background that is normally used in studio photography. I decided that I wanted to try his way of lighting studio photographs.
Hicks’ photos use multiple colours for the lighting in the back ground and the lighting on the model. For my photos I decided that I wanted to experiment with two colours, one for the background and one on my model. As this was the first project that I would be using gels for I wanted to keep it simple. Out of the gel colours that I had available to me I chose green as the background colour, this was because it had the most complimentary colours available to go with it.
